Sam Bahadur is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language biographical war drama film based on the life of India’s first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw. The movie is directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under the banner of RSVP Movies. Vicky Kaushal plays the lead role, while the cast also includes Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. In the film, Fatima Sana Shaikh will play the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. RSVP Movies announced the film on the 107th birthday of late Sam Manekshaw in 2021. The movie will be released in theaters on December 1st, 2023.

Sam Bahadur pays homage to the esteemed Army General and first Field Marshal of India, Field Marshal Sam HFJ Manekshaw, MC. His life was filled with notable events, ranging from serving in World War II to serving as Chief of Army Staff during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. Throughout his career, he saw how India’s geopolitical frontiers were shaped. Manekshaw served in five wars during his distinguished four-decade military career. In the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, he held the position of Chief of Army Staff for India.

A glimpse into the life of a tough Army Commander, affectionately called “Sam Bahadur” by his subordinates, is provided by the film Sam Bahadur, which examines his dynamic personality and extraordinary military career. Bhavani Iyer, Shantanu Shrivastava, and Meghna Gulzar wrote the script for Sam Bahadur. The film was shot in Punjab, Kolkata, Jaipur, Kashmir, and New Delhi, among other places.
