BJP’s Nupur Sharma has been in the eye of the storm ever since she purportedly made controversial comments about Prophet Muhammed during a TV debate. Apart from her another saffron party leader Naveen Jindal has been receiving flaks reportedly after he wrote offensive content against Islam on his Twitter Handle.

Nupur Sharma suspended from BJP

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Sunday suspended both the spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal from the party’s primary membership after their controversial comments on prophet Muhammed stirred a storm.

BJP also distanced itself from the controversy and released statement “strongly denouncing” insults of any religious personalities of any religion and underscoring every citizen’s right to practice any religion of their choice. The remarks came amid a brewing debate over the controversial comments allegedly made by its spokespersons against prophet Muhammed.

After Nupur Sharma was suspended from the saffron party, she unconditionally withdrew her remarks that she made on Prophet Muhammed.

FIRs filed against Nupur Sharma

The first case against Nupur Sharma was lodged on May 28 at the Pydhonie Police station in Mumbai. She reportedly made derogatory remarks on May 26. Two more first information reports were filed on Tuesday, one at Hyderabad cyber crime Police station and the other at Bhiwandi City Police station in Mumbai allegedly for hurting religious sentiments.

Congress hits out at BJP

Randeep Singh Surjewala, Party General secretary said that, the BJP and its Shenanigans have repeatedly and by design Insulted India’s centuries- old civilisation ethos of ‘ VasudhaivaKutumbakam’ by constantly pitting one community and religion against another to polarise, to divide, and to spread hatred.
