In ancient India, the legendary king Hiranyakashipu had sought the help of his sister Holika to kill his son Prahlada, who is the worshiper of Lord Vishnu. Holika sat on a pyre to hold and burn Prahlada while wearing a cloak, which was supposed to protect her from fire. Luckily, Prahlada survived and Holika burned to death. On this seasonal festival, everyone celebrates this festival by playing with different colours.
