Indian 2 is an upcoming Tamil-language action, drama and thriller movie. The movie is directed by Shankar Shanmugham and produced by A. Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. Starring Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani and Nedumudi Venu in the ensemble cast. The movie is scheduled to release on 12 July 2024 in theatres.
Indian 2 Synopsis:
Kamal Hassan returns to play Senapathy, an ex-freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights corruption, in this sequel to the 1996 film Indian. Senapathy returns to the country from Hong Kong to aid Chitra Varadharajan to assist a young man who has been exposing corrupt leaders in the country via online videos.

The theme of the film, according to Kamal Haasan, is corruption and having no tolerance for wrongdoing. Kamal stated, “I am a Tamilian and an Indian; that’s my identity, and yours too. That’s the concept behind the sequels. Divide and rule is a British concept. It worked back then because they had a home to go back to. It will no longer work. I wonder where those trying to do the same today would go.”
Screenplay:
The movie has been directed by Kamal Haasan, the lead actor of the 1996 film Indian, was revealed on September 30, 2017. However, the studio withdrew the next month, allegedly because of escalating production costs. He was going to play the same part again, and S. Shankar would take over as director. Sri Venkateswara Creations was producing. Soon later, the film’s producer was replaced by Allirajah Subaskaran, the head of Lyca Productions. Filmmaker Ravi Varman, editor A. Sreekar Prasad, production designer T. Muthuraj, and music composer Anirudh Ravichander make up the technical team.
Overview:
After a 2020 set accident left the crew injured, the movie was placed on indefinite hold. Another reason for the delay in shooting was the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming recommenced in 2022, with Shankar balancing filming for Game Changer, starring Kiara Advani, and Ram Charan. July 12 is the release date of Indian 2.
