The entire Punjabi industry is in grief because of the untimely demise of Sukhjinder Shera, one of the most liked artists of old Punjabi cinema. Sukhjinder Shera left crying his family and fans on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Actually, he travelled to Uganda, South Africa to meet his friend where he passed away due to severe pneumonia. The entire Punjabi industry and fanbase of Shera is saddened by this news. Many artists of the Punjabi industry, including Gippy Grewal, Guggu Gill, Dev Kharoud and Karamjit Anmol took to Instagram to share their condolences.

Shera belongs to the village Malak of distt. Ludhiana, Tehsil Jagaraon, Punjab. Sukhjinder started his career with writing and later gained stardom through his acting and direction in Punjabi movies. He  debuted in 1987 with legendary actor Virendra’s most  viewed and Silver Jubilee Awardee movie Yaari Jatt Di. This film marked Sukhjinder Shera’s grand entry in Punjabi cinema. He also wrote the dialogues of the film along with acting and he got his name ‘Shera’ after his character in the movie. Sukhjinder added ‘Shera’ to his real name after gaining mammoth renown through this film and started getting known as Sukhjinder Shera.

He was one of the most admired actors, directors, writers and producers of his time. He was known for his attire, dialogue delivery, style of acting, which was unique and created his own identity in the Punjabi cinema.Sukhjinder worked in many big and hit films including Jorr Jatt Da, Ucha Pind, Moh Punjab Da, Jagira, Jatt Te Zameen, Sir Dhad Di Baazi and so on.
